The Thai government has announced new entry regulations that will take effect on November 1, 2025. The main changes affect tourists arriving in popular resorts, including Phuket, Koh Samui, and Bangkok.
Now foreign tourists are required to:
– have health insurance with coverage of at least US$30,000;
– confirm a hotel or apartment reservation for the entire duration of your stay;
– present a return ticket or a ticket to a third country.
Furthermore, Thai authorities have tightened controls on illegal rentals. Tourists booking through uncertified platforms risk being denied entry.
At the same time, to stimulate tourism, the government extended the visa-free entry program for citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, and several other countries until the end of April 2026. Tour operators note that the new rules may complicate travel for independent travelers, but will not have a significant impact on organized tourism.
